From real world conflicts to video games, the PPSh – 41 is an iconic submachine gun that was produced by the Soviet Union. The PPSh – 41 is a select-fire, open-bolt, blowback submachine gun chambered in 7.62x25mm Tokarev. Designed in 1941, the PPsh – 41 was an affordable and simplified replacement for the PPD – 40. This firearm has seen extensive combat, from World War 2 to the Russo Ukrainian War. Largely made from stamped steel, the PPSh 41 can be loaded with either a box magazine or a drum magazine. Integrated at the front of the barrel jacket, a crude compensator was implemented with the design to reduce the muzzle climb when the user holds down the trigger to spray down a target with a cyclic rate of 1250 rounds per minute. During the gun’s prime, the Soviet Union produced around 6 million PPSh 41s for the war effort during World War 2.
